Get Brooked #1 & Meet my Wife

"Get Brooked" event #1:
successful!
Fantastic!
great networking!
great friendships!

This past week I hosted a "Get Brooked" get together. It was soooooo great to meet some of those amazing photographers in my area, the ones I talk about, read their blogs, and admire so much....There were about 15 of us, and we came from all over (San Diego -L.A.) to meet each other. Networking is so important in the photography community. When we all come together we are able to help each other grow, learn, and continue to be excited about our careers as photographers. I have come across two different types of people in my career as a wedding photographer. The first type: the photographer that stays to themselves. This is referred to as the "old school" thinking. The second type: the type that I love being around, those who don't see other photographers as competition but a support team. Becker talks alot about this topic on his blog,(if you don't know about the b-school check it out!). Man, I feel so lucky to have met all of you who came! You are all awesome! You are all so positive! You all have influenced my personal life and Business in a positive way! So Thank  You again for Coming. I cant wait to meet more of you in the future!
Definitely check out everyones site that came, they are all rockin photographers:

Top: David Baxter of Ohana Photography, Arron and Amy of AHS Photography, Gabriel and Carlie of Gabriel.Ryan.Phototgrapher, Desiree & Husband of Desiree Hayes Photography

Bottom: Candice of Mark Brooke Photographer, Karey of Karey Michelle Photography, Crissy Watkins, And Dawn Malone of For His Glory Photography.

*not pictured: Me and the newest member of the Mark Brooke team, Brittany Faye.

THIS PICTURES DOES NOT DO ANY JUSTICE FOR THE ROCKIN DAVID BAXTER. HE HAS INCREDIBLE PICTURES, AND SUCH GREAT STYLE. AND OF CORSE WE LOVE KAREY MICHELLE(SHE WAS OUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER!). And no! he did not fall asleep or get sick. lol. We just caught him quickly glancing at our good quality Duffy boat carpet.

MEET MY: WIFE
I think it is LONG over due that we introduce my wife: Candice.  She freaking rocks!  she does all of the back-end business of Mark Brooke Photography.   So what does that mean...

She is my: marketer, album designer, business developer, office manager, and most importantly my right hand photographer.

We had a chance to do a little photo shoot to intro her.  Many people don't realize that she is MORE than half of the business and SMOKING HOT!

I'm so incredibly jealous of the community you have over there! I hope to find some sort of wonderful mecca of photographers at our next unknown location! Your wife is beautiful and looks like a lot of fun. When we open a business, which I'm not quite ready for yet, my husband will hopefully do the same for me. What a great team you two make!

Hey Mark!

These are great images. You captured her very well. She looks so fun!

I have enjoyed clicking around your blog here. I am also a photographer although I just started my business. I found you here through Lacey's blog. I will be back to check in with what you are up too!

Again, great shots!

OK, one more thing...

I just checked out your website. My husband, kids and I just moved here to Atlanta from London (we are American but lived there for two years with my better halfs job) so I especially enjoyed all your pics from London and Paris I saw. Brought back memories!

Later!

Mark,
Thanks for checking out my blog. Glad to hear you are incorporating some of Becker's ideas. I have run into the same thing here where I am at. I was best of friends with a local photographer (20 years in the business, 5 employees, Big $'s in sales) and when I opened my shop 2 years ago a strangeness came over the whole relationship. I'm reaching out to some other photographers, going to be shooting with a local guy on some of his weddings so I can see his methods. I even asked my old friend to come to my shop and show me some of her awesome lighting trade. I would love to set up a local network of photographers here in the Charlotte, North Charlotte area.

BTW, I love your images. Very Cool! Great color!
thanks,
db
