FLIP-BOOKS!

Those of you who are reading this and are photographers, you all know the importance of finding "yourself". It is so important to your success in the wedding photography business. If you are not yourself your clients will be disappointed and you will be disappointed in the long run. Since the beginning we have been extremely driven to find who we are so we can expand and grow our business in the right way. Mark and I started heavily Branding ourselves about 5 months ago. We made our welcome video (posted at the top of the blog), we redesigned our website/blog, we are in the process of re-branding all our marketing material,so that everything will be communicating the same thing and we are still working on some "special projects" that will be released later in life. But It took us a long time to figure out "who" we were and who we wanted to be as wedding photographers.

So here is a large part of what we mean by "finding yourself". we have expanded our Mark Brooke Photographers BRANDING! We decided to add something super radical to offer to our Brides. We wanted something Fresh, and something we have never seen before in the wedding biz. Something Mark has always loved has been flip books, so we thought it would be a great thing to incorporate. Along with these nifty videos that we put together we create REAL physical flip books for the bride and groom!!!!!

So now offered to all our Brides is our MBP flip books. Here are the "favorites" from the last few months.

Our Studio!

Finding your funk in your own step...

About a year and a half ago, Candice and I started the Wedding biz, and have (by the grace of God) made it into a little something called: The Funky-Fresh, Artsy, Mark Brooke Wedding photographers. Since then He (GOD) has blessed us with a meeting place for our funky-fresh, artsy clients!!

Since moving in, we have had a crazy first few months!! But now, we have finally gotten around to redecorating!  So these past few days have been spent revamping our studio to rock it like its nobody's biz. We started with the wall colors, and next week we are moving to the furniture, crown molding, and decorations. So we wanted to share what we have done so far with the pad. We cant wait to have everyone over to embrace the new look.

where did the Brooke's go?... Painting

As most of you know, we HATE not blogging, because it feels like we have missed something in our day to day routine! So here is an update of what has been going on with us...

These past few days we have been locked in our house painting with friends and family. We got this "itch" to paint our little hearts out,  so now we are stuck actually following through with that "itch". We decided to go with the colors grey and teal. And after shopping at urban outfitters and Anthropology we feel like our "new" house is going to be Radical.

Not only have we been painting these last few days... but we have also squeezed in a day long trip to the San diego zoo.  Mark and I loaded into our friend's car yesterday at 8:00 am to get to the Zoo by 10:00am. We walked till we dropped, saw animals doing un-natural tricks, and a  baby giraffe that was only 2 hours old. Then we headed to a brewery for dinner and beer. It was an excellent (non-stressful) day.

Now here I am blogging thinking about how Mark is still painting down stairs, and how I am up stairs working because I got Shunned/kicked out of the 4th day of painting....Long story short: I was not painting up to Mark's standards, and I spilt a whole can of paint on our wood floors, and and and I was cranky....So yeah, I got kicked out of the painting party (party = Geoffrey and Mark). So I am going to continue on with this blog post and not be bitter...I should be happy, who on earth wants to be painting on the fourth day of a big project?

Anyway... Another exciting event this week has been the delivery of 6 pairs of sun glasses.. Thanks to the Lyons and their amazing hook ups, we were able to purchase 6 pairs of radical sun glasses from Paul Frank and Penguin. So when you see us around town you will %100 for sure see us in some awesome shades.

And the last announcement/personal update is this: "The office" starts next month, And we are freakin stoked!

Here is a sneak peak of a shoot I did a few weeks ago, I should be posting the whole shoot tomorrow. (for those of you who follow our blog, this is part of MY 1000 photos a week).

Tony + Chelsea : Married

Every once in a while Mark and I shoot a wedding where our mouth drops to the floor in amazement.... And Tony and Chelsea's wedding was "one of those"!  It was beautiful! They are both designers, so their wedding had so many little details and personal touches, it made us smile the whole time.

Chelsea and Tony met at work. When Tony first saw Chelsea he told her he was going to marry her. After Chelsea calmed down from hearing this comment, she dated him and found out it was true. They are so perfect together, and so fun to be around.

Thank you soooo much for letting us be apart of your amazing day! We enjoyed every minute of it!

Our Simple Tuesday

What is happening with us this lovely Tuesday afternoon, you ask?

This past week Mark and I have been on the hunt to re-vamp our CASA. We are sick of the plain tan walls and the brownish carpet! So after being slightly inspired by Nate and Jacks' bright green and orange walls, we have decided to paint and buy everything in sight. We have made serveral trips to Home depot, and when you see the colors we picked you might think we went MAD, but trust me they are rockin. We are changing a few rooms around (making one of the bedrooms into an office, and the other one into a guest room), and we are building a few shelves that will look super awesome in our living room. These projects are super exciting to talk about, but they usually end up sucking when you actually pick up a paint brush and do them...But we are not at that point yet so we are super excited!

Mark is off right now with Justin Lyon putting the finishing touches on a "surprise project" and I am off to hang with my mother in Law at a beach house. Then later tonight Mark has band practise and I have dinner with the girls. So our Tuesday is going quite well.

Just a little side note.... Geffrey our puppy is so freaken cute!

Nancy and Chris's E-session

This past month has been a blast! mostly because we have been working on shoots and editing every day! and we love it.

This past week, we were able to hang out with Nancy and Chris for their E-session. We loved shooting them because they had such amazing personalities and spunk. Nancy was super nervous at first; but after striking a few poses she turned out to be a natural!

Something I can not neglect to mention in their blog post is their wedding invitations. They are out of this world. The only way to explain them in simple terms would be: to say it is a small story book that gives all of the wedding details, time, location etc.. Not only that, but they were Hot pink, Hot green, Hot blue and awesome!

We started their E-session at the Santa Monica Pier and then headed to China Town. They wanted to make sure we hit up China Town at dusk. They could not get enough of the grungy look.

Nancy and Chris, we are so happy for you! We can not wait to see you on your big day!
