Helping the J* out...

A few nights ago we met up with Jasmine * to help her out with a non-profit organization project she was working on (she will be blogging more about this later). We met Jasmine over a year ago and our friendship with her is growing every season. We love having pancakes with her, eating sweet patatos, and just plain hanging out. She inspires us to be better people.

I (candice) am currently working on a project for invisible children (also a non-profit organization) and so it was awesome to watch Jasmine help out with her own non-profit passion.

Just a side note...Mark and I went to Biola University (a Christian school). While I was there I feel in love with the organization called Invisible Children. It is a group that made the states aware of the war situation in Africa. Children at the age of 4 were being stollen, guns put in their hands, and brainwashed to kill everyone around them. That current situation has stopped but now all those kids are left to recover. Most of their family is dead and they are living with other young children in packs. Most of them have been infected by aids and they are now grownups in little bodies. It is amazing what other nations are going through. I will be talking more about this next christmas.... But it is a great organization to be involved with.

Sometimes like those children I feel I have been stolen and brain washed to think the thoughts of this world. Just like the "invisible Children" ( on a much much smaller scale) I am constantly trying to over come the little wars in my own life. As I begin to work with the Invisible Children Organization , I realize that we all have things to recover from. And the children in Africa will constantly need our prayers.

Back from my tangent....Here are some pictures of Me and the hus. Thanks jasmine for the photos and an awesome dinner.

You guys look awesome! And on another note, I think your passion for your charity is commendable, I have my own stolen story but it is no where as bad as what these kids go through. You guys are the definition of humanity ;)

Okay, just for the record, I like eating pancakes and sweet potatoes with you too....but I also like working out with you!! :) Don't want people thinkin' we lay around all day stuffing our faces. Okay, okay...maybe we do that too. But we run and do push ups at bootcamp to make up for our caloric transgressions! :)

So glad to hear you are working with Invisible Children. I visited Uganda, where this is taking place, a couple years ago and the stories there were almost too much for me to bear. A piece of my heart is still there and lately this organization has been surfacing in different situations in my life-not sure what that means but I'm listening. :)

Love your pics! I have been following your blog for a few months now. I'm looking forward to hearing more about Invisible Children. I'll have to watch the documentary soon.

Some of our best friends are serving as missionaries in Nigeria. Life is sure different there and it's overwhelming to realize the great need there. Keep up the good efforts!

I hope to cross paths with you two one of these days! :)

The Invisible Children is a great organization. The first doc almost made me cry ("my heart keeps beeping and beeping"). We had some of the guys from TIC come visit our church one evening. They are doing some powerful things.

Are you going to be doing photography with them? Domestically or internationally?

Here's a great story to read when you have 5 spare minutes about a guy who got into mission work by way of photography. http://www.takegreatpictures.com/charityis_scott_harrison.fci

Candice and Mark, thanks for being such a light in the photography world. It's people like you who will make all the difference. I've been looking for a good cause to support through my business, and you guys and Jasmine are great examples that I look up to. My cousin goes to Biola. She's looking for a way to help people, so I'll let her know about Invisible Children.
